PRR 9524, EF-15, 1955 |
Description: |
Here is an image of a photo by Edward Kaspriske that was taken near Cove, Pennsylvania, in 1955. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9524 and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9524 was produced in July of 1948 and retired in May of 1966 after just 18 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B-B-A set is rockin' 'n' rollin' with a mixed-cargo freight train out of Enola bound for Altoona and points West. Note the four-track Watering Point for steam-powered locomotives. Edward Kaspriske Collection. |
