Shown here are four diesel-electric locomotives climbing the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a Pennsylvania Railroad TrucTrain that stretches all the way around the Curve and out of sight to the right. In the lead is #2537 and three more units whose numbers are not recorded. #2537 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. Visible in the middle distance is Kittanning Run, route of the famed "Kittanning Indian Trail." ("PrrFan18n")

Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2243, #2537, and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. #2243 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in May of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2537 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in February of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. Note the presence of "Radio Equipped" labels and the corresponding lack of Train Phone antennae.

17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 04 July 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2261, #2540, #2237, #2312, and #2413. #2261 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2540 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2237 is an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2312 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2413 is an AF-24 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. They are pulling a 93-car TrucTrain past ALTO Tower on their way to Enola and points East with caboose #477550. The eastern slopes of the Allegheny Mountains dominate the horizon.

PRR E&M Turntable, 1966
Description:
E&M. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during April of 1966. Visible in the foreground is the trusty E&M turntable ~ witness to steam and Diesels alike. Beyond the turntable are the eastern side of the E&M Shop, some of the tracks from the Shop to the turntable, as well as five locomotives built by several different manufacturers ~ including Baldwin, ALCo, EMD, and GE. Two PRR engines are identifiable: #2428 and #2649. #2428 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2649 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower.
